How I treat
Eir Animal Chiropractic use a variety of treatment such as soft tissue techniques as massage, fascial manipulation, and scar tissue release, in combination with adjustment, short lever, high velocity, controlled thrust, and mobilisations. No animal is the same and thus no treatment will be the same.
What you can expect
Following a history of your animal’s health and progression, physical examination which includes gait and posture analysis, soft tissue and bony structure palpation and motion palpation, treatments will be tailored to your animals’ needs.
How does adjustment work
The adjustment is typically a specifically applied short lever, high velocity, low amplitude, controlled manual thrust applied to specific articulations or anatomic regions. These trigger a therapeutic response via changes in joint structures, muscle receptors and function, and neurological reflexes. The mechanical effect of the adjustment leads to a momentary low pressure in the joint; the joint surfaces move apart, during which synovial adhesions and cross linkages are disrupted. The adjustment has a specific influence on mechanoreceptors (muscle spindle cells, golgi tendon organs and joint receptors) to induce reflex inhibition of pain and stimulate muscle relaxation and to correct abnormal movement patterns.
